Like my father, John served in the Merchant Marine
during World War II, except in the Atlantic. All my memories of Uncle John include laughter - John always had a great sense of humor and seemed most intent in cracking up my mother.
Their contributions and heroism ignored for years, I'm particularly pleased to see the USMM veterans getting
some long overdue recognition.
